Highly Qualified Teachers

At Ogden Preparatory Academy we are very proud of our teachers and feel they are prepared to give your child a high-quality education. As a Title I school, we must meet federal rules related to teacher qualifications as defined in No Child Left Behind. These rules allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask about your child’s teachers’ or paraprofessionals’ qualifications and degrees. Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.   Click for Teacher Degree Information. If you have any questions about your child’s assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact Amie Campbell at acampbell@ogdenprep.org.

Kindergarten Teacher

Kristin Slattery

I born and raised in Las Vegas, NV. To survive the heat, I became an avid swimmer and competed all throughout high school. I love many, many things. Some of those things include art, music, flowers, Disney, her puppy Frankie, and her amazing family. Last March, I got engaged to the love of my life in Disney World.

My first year of college was at Chapman University in Orange, CA. After the first year there, I decided I wanted a change of pace and moved to Ogden, UT. Here I started college at Weber State University. For the next four years I studied Early Childhood and Elementary Education and graduated in April of 2016.

Kindergarten Teacher

Janet Scalise

My name is Janet Scalise. I was born and raised right here in Utah. I am married to Tim Scalise and we have 3 children: Tony, Nicholas, and Sara. They have all attended OPA. I love to eat sushi, go hiking, camping, working in my gardens and reading books! I received my Associates Degree from Rick’s College and my BA from Weber State. Before having children I taught first and second grades in Davis District for 12 years. I then took a break to be a “stay home mom”. A few years ago I once again joined the teaching ranks and have loved it! This will be my 6th year at OPA and my 4th year in Kindergarten. I love Kindergarten children! They are fun, energized, and so willing to learn! I like to facilitate that learning process through stories, music, and movement. Our motto is: ”We think – We observe – We make good choices!”

Kindergarten Teacher

Angie Maag

My name is Angie Maag (rhymes with dog). I was born and raised in Farr West, Utah. I am married to my best friend, Chris Maag. We have three children: Porter, Lucy, and Sophie. Lucy and Sophie attend OPA. Some of my hobbies are running, reading, and paddle boarding. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Weber State University with a 1-8 grade degree in Elementary Education. I have taught 4th, 3rd, and 2nd Grade. Four years ago I earned my Early Childhood Education Degree that allowed me to teach K-3. This is my 13th year of teaching and my fourth year teaching Kindergarten at Ogden Preparatory Academy. I have high expectations and love that kindergarteners are so willing to listen and learn.

Our motto in Kindergarten this year will be: It’s Good to Do Hard Things! Our mascot is a bumblebee because aerodynamically a bumblebee shouldn’t be able to fly, but no one has ever told the bumblebee that, so it goes on flying. Every year I see kindergarteners do amazing things that no one would ever think they would be able to do. They definitely can do hard things and I am very proud to be their teacher.
