OPA Accreditation

What is accreditation?

Accreditation is awarded to educational institutions that meet high standards of providing quality education programs and services. A team of teachers and administrators from other schools review all aspects of education, including curriculum, teachers, and administration.

Why Accreditation Matters

  • Attending an accredited school is required for entry to many colleges or workforce training programs
  • Provides students with greater access to financial aid, federal loans, and scholarships
  • Ensures that the quality of the school meets high standards

Ogden Preparatory Academy is accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED).  Earning accreditation means that our instructors, tools, services and staff meet or exceed essential standards of educational quality.

About Cognia

Cognia uses a set of rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria to examine the whole institution – the policies, programs, practices, learning conditions and cultural context – to determine how well the parts work together to carry out the institution’s vision and meet the needs of every learner.  Accreditation isn’t about passing a one-time inspection. Rather, accreditation recognizes education providers that demonstrate and sustain their commitments to continuous improvement and better learner outcomes.

Ogden Preparatory Academy is also accredited by the NCAA.  Students who complete NCAA approved courses have the opportunity to participate in and obtain scholarships for college athletics.

About NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is the regulating body that governs college sports, athletes, and organizations from the biggest public universities to small private colleges. The NCAA seeks to support the college athlete in every aspect of their college education: academics and graduation, career readiness, leadership, athletic services, and character development.

OPA School Improvement Plan

The OPA School Improvement Plan is a common document involving a variety of stakeholders that assessed Ogden Prep in 12 different categories.  By using the document to discuss and assess these categories, the OPA Administration develops several targeted and prioritized goals throughout each school year.  These goals are informed by and aligned with the accreditation process.
