Carrie Velez

2nd Grade

Hello. My name is Carrie Velez. This is my eighth year teaching. My husband is in the US Air Force and I have one daughter in fourth grade. I have had the wonderful opportunity to live in many places including Indiana, Texas, Tennessee, California, Nevada, England, and Georgia.

I love teaching and I am very passionate about learning! I attended the University of California, Riverside and obtained my BA in English. In 1998, I obtained my MA in Elementary Education from University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

My goal is to provide a classroom environment that is designed to encourage critical thinking, problem solving, cooperative learning, responsibility, organization, and promote a continual craving for knowledge. I will encourage my students to share his/her interests throughout the year so we can attempt to incorporate those interests into our curriculum. It is important that students know that they are an integral part of what goes on in our classroom.

I am very excited to be at OPA and looking forward to a wonderful school year.
